Job Reference 610_24_DIR_CSS_RE4 Position Researcher in Complexity Science and AI Psychometrics (R3) Closing Date Monday, 30 September, 2024 About BSC The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain.
It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is committed to research, development, and management of information technologies to facilitate scientific progress.
BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science under one roof, currently employing over 1000 staff from 60 countries.
We are particularly interested in the strengths and lived experiences of women and underrepresented groups to help us avoid perpetuating biases and oversights in science and IT research.

Context And Mission The Computational Social Science and Humanities program aims to prepare the social sciences and humanities for the era of data, AI, and Exascale supercomputing.
Our mission is to foster collaboration between social scientists and computer scientists, making HPC accessible to all researchers in the field.
We focus on key societal research areas such as Population and Household changes, Democratic Quality, Social Media, and more.
We seek a dynamic researcher in Complexity Science applied to social sciences and humanities, reporting to Dr. Mercè Crosas, director of the Unit and of the CSSH department.
Key Duties Write and submit project proposals of the highest scientific quality to seek competitive financial support at the international and European levels.
Conduct innovative research in Complexity Science using computational methods.
Collaborate with internal and external research groups to advance in the field.
Requirements Education PhD in Complex systems and Social and Emotional Behavior Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience Excellent experience in Data Science, conducting computational social science research, particularly on complex systems and AI Psychometrics.
Proven experience in coordinating and managing research projects.
Proven track of publications on topics related to Complexity Science.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience Prior experience in grant writing and securing research funding from competitive funding agencies.
Wide research experience in international contexts.
Outstanding knowledge of computational methods and data processing and analysis, NLP, AI/ML, and LLMs.
Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
Competences Capacity to contribute to research projects with novel research ideas and analysis.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to scientific rigor.
Excellent communication skills to specialized audiences, co-researchers, and team members.
Conditions The position will be located at BSC within the Directors Department.
We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, and private health insurance.
Duration: Open-ended contract linked to the project and budget duration.
Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December.
Salary: competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.
Starting date: 01/11/2024.
