What will your role look like?
As a Research Intern, you will support our team's research and policymaking by collecting and analyzing data, assisting in the development of research methodologies, and contributing to the creation of reports and presentations. Where needed, you will support the team in preparing literature reviews. The successful candidate will have a keen interest in the intersection of ethical tech, algorithmic auditing, and policy, with strong research and analytical skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, helping shape a more ethical technological future.
Your key responsibilities:
Conduct sociotechnical research on topics related to AI bias and ethics, the impact of AI technologies, and algorithmic auditing. Evaluate algorithmic systems and their impacts and recommend adjustments & best practices to mitigate biases.
Collect and organize data from various sources, including academic papers, online databases, and surveys.
Assist in the design and implementation of research methodologies and collaborate with team members to develop research reports, white papers, and presentations.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all research activities.
Stay updated on the latest developments in ethical AI research to inform project activities.
Support the transformation of research projects into disruptive initiatives aimed at challenging existing systems, norms, or policies with meaningful social impact.
Requirements
Must-have skills:
Fluency in English
A (completed or in-progress) degree in a relevant field (data science, sociology, software development, or related disciplines)
Interest and experience conducting research in ethics and AI, including impact assessments, evaluating algorithmic models, and analyzing data
Familiarity with statistics and statistical analysis software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and concise reports, policy papers, and impact-focused publications.
Being open and collaborative. Taking constructive feedback and being always eager to share an idea or suggestion.
Strong understanding of social issues, community building, stakeholder engagement, and activism.
Creative thinking and the ability to develop innovative strategies to challenge and disrupt existing systems.
Being passionate about social change and ethics in technology.

Fluency in Spanish
Experience working in remote and cloud-based environments.
