OFFER DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a highly motivated Research Technician with experience in sanitation systems and hydraulic simulation of sewer networks to work in the Project "4SM. Spreading Sensors in Sewers for Sustainable Management". The project 4SM belongs to the call R+D+i projects in strategic lines in public-private collaboration. Topic 21: Predictive maintenance of infrastructures through intelligent systems. Project PLEC2021-007794 (4SM) funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and the European Union NextGenerationEU/ PRTR.
The main goal of 4SM is to create a new set of sensors and tools for advanced and sustainable management of sewage systems. 4SM addresses four of the most important challenges for optimal sewerage management, such as:
Promoting the digitalization process of sewerage networks
Improving the capabilities of current monitoring tools
Exploring resource recovery and sewer energy
Developing highly innovative methods for corrosion, toxicity, and odour control
4SM contributes to maximizing the functioning of urban water systems in relation to:
Reducing environmental impact
Warning against the risk of flooding
The resilience of infrastructures to climate change
Efficient use of resources
Long-term management of infrastructure capital assets
KEY DUTIES
The position involves executing complex technical activities of the project, including the preparation and development of hydraulic simulation models for sewer and urban drainage networks. The candidate will primarily perform mathematical modeling of sanitation systems and will also participate in field experimental activities, installation of experimental prototypes, and sampling campaigns in sewer networks.
