Research Assistant In The Biosensors For Bioengineering Research Group

Introduction to the vacant position:The Biosensors for Bioengineering Group is looking for an Early Stage Researcher to work on the development of 3D skeletal muscle tissue integrated within microfluidic organ-on-chip devices. The contract will be within the framework of the MORFEO project (Muscle-on-a-chip approach to reproduce fibrotic processes in engineered 3D co-culture organoids for Muscular Dystrophy), whose main objective is the development of Muscle-on-chip devices to model DMD and Col6-related myopathies.Main tasks and responsibilities:Develop and characterise 3D tissue co-cultures of skeletal muscle tissues from patient-derived cells.Design and fabricate microfluidic devices.Integrate the platform to drug testing assays.Requirements for candidates:Essential:Degree in any field in Biomedical Engineering or similar.Experience in cell culture and Molecular Biology.Experience in microfabrication techniques will be a plus.Experience in microphysiological systems and tissue engineering will be a plus.Competencies and skills:CommunicationTeamwork and collaborationCommitmentProactivityIntegrityCritical and Analytical thinkingHigh level of EnglishAdvantageous:Experience in skeletal muscle research.Experience in muscular dystrophy research.Experience in 3D design and printing.We Offer:Number of available positions: 1Starting date: September 16th 2024Working conditions:Full-time 2 years employment contract.
