.At EMBL Barcelona we study how tissues and organs develop and function in health and disease.iPSC Research TechnicianResearchBarcelona, SpainThe Barcelona CRYOZOO is an animal cell line biobank which is creating a stable and permanent biobank of cell lines and genetic material from a wide variety of animals, giving priority to the most globally threatened species. The CRYOZOO project is a partnership with the Universidad Pompeu Fabra, and Barcelona Zoo and the Natural History Museum of Barcelona. One of the main objectives of the CRYOZOO is to enable and promote research into biodiversity and biomedicine. The successful candidate will be involved in the CRYOZOO Project developing primary cell culture and iPSCs generation from samples of different animal species as well as cell characterization assay. The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organizations in the world. The newest EMBL Barcelona site is located in the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), one of the largest infrastructures in Southern Europe dedicated to translational research. The main focus of the EMBL Barcelona site is in tissue biology and disease modelling. We aim to go beyond the molecular and cellular scale, integrating gene circuits with a tissue-level quantitative understanding of tissues and organs, both healthy and diseased. We are seeking to recruit a research technician to work with to work with primary cell cultures and iPSCs.Your roleThe candidate will work developing primary cell culture and iPSCs generation from samples of different animal species as well as cell characterization assays.Technical skills required:Experience in molecular and cell biology.Strong tissue culture experience for human and mammalian primary cells andExperience with immunofluorescence, confocal and FACS analysis for cellular characterizations.DNA and RNA extraction. Some of these tasks might require working after hours and on weekends. Adjustments on the working hours will be made in agreement with the line manager.Grading: 4, 5 or 6; depending on qualifications and experiencea Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field.strong experience iPS cell generation and differentiation, preferably from some non-human speciesbackground in basic molecular biology and tissue culture techniquessolid interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently and to quickly set up effective networks and working relationships.excellent verbal and written communication skills in EnglishYou might also have- Knowledge of the Spanish language is advantageous but not required.EMBL is curiosity-driven, community-oriented and international. As an inclusive, equal opportunity employer, we believe that diversity enables us to collaborate more effectively and be innovative in our approaches
