Role purpose
Do you have solid technical skills and a strong interest in European and international energy policy, with a special focus on the industrial sectors and industrial processes? We are looking for self-driven, motivated modellers to join our EU offices in Athens or Madrid to work alongside our energy system modelling team on high-standing consulting projects for international organisations, national governments, and the private sector.
Key responsibilities Collect, structure, keep up-to-date and analyze large datasets with relevance for energy, economy and industrial demand sectors.Operate, maintain and further develop the PRIMES model and other simulation tools for the industrial sectors.Key competencies and experience Hold a BSc and/or MSc or PhD degree in engineering, economics, applied mathematics or physics or any relevant disciplines.Have proven experience of research and/or work experience on energy systems modelling, operations research, mathematical programming, optimization modelling, especially focusing on process engineering and decarbonisation pathways for the industrial sectors.Utilise quantitative modelling skills with experience in the development of models and scenarios ideally related to the decarbonisation of the industrial sectors.Demonstrate the ability to use analytical and modelling tools, preferably GAMS or Python or R for modelling.Be an excellent user of MS Office with particular emphasis on MS Excel.Be proficient in verbal and written communication in English.Have an interest in energy system analysis and energy economics.Have an understanding of European and/or international energy and environmental policy issues.Have an analytical and problem-solving mindset, collaborative attitude and be eager to learn.Proven writing skills gained through (co-) authorship of academic articles, technical and/or policy reports in English is an asset.Working here Ricardo is an exciting and rewarding place to work and you have the opportunity to make a difference.
