Mission and Main Objectives The Communications Manager defines and activates external and internal communication for Nissan's industrial operations in Spain.
Covering two locations, working in close coordination with plant leaders and the coordinators in other sites such as the warehouse, logistics center, and technical center, this is a key strategic position which leads the development and deployment of integrated multi-stakeholder communications programs.
The main objectives of this role are to: Strengthen and protect Nissan's corporate reputation in Spain.
Drive employee engagement and pride.
Main tasks and responsibilities: Define and implement strategies for external and internal communication across the Nissan industrial centers in Spain: Barcelona, Avila, and Cantabria.
Lead and coordinate communications across a complex business network in those centers, covering manufacturing activities and industrial strategy, industrial relations, human resources, and local external affairs.
Provide strategic counsel on communications issues to the Spanish Communication Director and to the Industrial Operations VP and his management team.
Internally, deliver a multi-channel communication schedule to foster a culture of innovation, engagement, and enablement within the company, targeted to a manufacturing audience.
Foster strong relationships with Spanish corporate media and local media to Nissan's industrial locations, and lead on media events related to Spanish manufacturing operations.
Lead communications activity in times of crisis, including preparation of statements and messaging.
Report to the Spanish Nissan Communication Director and coordinate with the Spanish PR team from Nissan's sales & marketing function, regionally through the Nissan AMIEO team.
Deploy engaging and innovative events and activities to enhance employee engagement and understanding of the Nissan brand.
Undertake the above activity as part of a wider network of communicators in Nissan's European manufacturing operations, aligning, standardizing, and supporting colleagues when required.
Background and Experience: At least eight years of experience in a senior communications role, preferably for a multi-national company (can be non-Automotive).
Extensive media relations experience with an emphasis on corporate communications and a strong and acknowledged track record of results.
Experience in internal communications and using digital channels.
Excellent written and verbal English communications skills; must be able to write under pressure (including speech-writing) and have the credibility and presence to represent Nissan as lead spokesperson in public forums including broadcast.
Strong track record in issues and crisis communications.
Strong leadership and personal impact, demonstrating the ability to gain the confidence of senior executives.
Track record of establishing and developing a strong network of media and other stakeholder contacts.
Willing to travel and to relocate.
Minimum Education Required: Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or related discipline.
