To fuel our Engineering department in Barcelona, we are looking for a Machine Learning Lead to join our ML team, which is in charge of all our AI projects. We are WIRIS, a software development company founded 20 years ago and headquartered in Barcelona with offices in the USA, Long Beach (California) since we acquired the American company Design Science in 2017. Wiris is continuously growing, not only in employee numbers, which keep increasing at double-digit rates but also in terms of products. We are currently more than 80 people revolutionizing the educational field with innovative products, enhancing our value proposition for our global customers such as NASA, Blackboard, Moodle, and Pearson among others; and our mission is to make people's STEM work more meaningful by creating software with deep knowledge in advanced technology and science.
About the team
Our Machine Learning team is responsible for developing and deploying WIRIS Machine Learning solutions intended to improve our products. WIRIS currently has a user base bigger than 10 million, so some of our current ML-based solutions are vastly used. The ML team is dedicated to providing robust and scalable solutions to cope with high usage demands.
Responsibilities
As the Manager of our Machine Learning team, you will be responsible for creating a scalable team capable of:
Maintain existing ML-based solutions as well as design and implement new ones in the context of STEM tools.Extract value from data by training models and deploying them to production.Define and implement metrics to track the progress and success of ML-related projects.Run machine learning experiments and tests.Document the state of each project's progress and share them in an understandable manner with non-technical stakeholders. In addition, as the ML Manager you will be responsible for:
Understand business requirements and objectives and help achieve them.Recruit, lead, coach, and manage a Machine Learning team.Provide technological proposals to achieve business goals.Spread our engineering culture within the team. Requirements and Technical skills
- Solid experience with any of the main Deep Learning toolboxes (PyTorch, TensorFlow, MXNet, etc.).
- Broad understanding of the RestFul API architecture.
- Knowledge of cloud computing services such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience managing a small team of engineers.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish.
