Context And Mission
The Barcelona Supercomputing Center's Urban Data Science research team is looking for a postdoctoral researcher specialized in spatial data analysis. The candidate will develop theoretical questions and models to help cities become climate-neutral in 2030, collaborating with city officials and preparing and analyzing geolocated data from multiple sources.
Key Duties
Receive, ingest, prepare, and clean data from project stakeholders.
Analyze data and develop statistical models focusing on spatial features.
Design and implement part of the web platform for urban policymakers.
Aid with synthesis, lessons for policy and planning, and dissemination activities.
Lead in preparing publications and research outputs, including co-authored academic articles and policy briefs.
Requirements
Education: PhD in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or Computer Science.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience:
Experience with spatial data analysis methods.
Experience in applied data science projects.
Proficiency in popular languages for data scientists (preferably Python).
Experience in machine learning best practices.
Strong initiative for multidisciplinary research involving diverse fields.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience:
Experience with geospatial analysis libraries (e.g., GeoPandas, Pysal).
Experience with Python GUI libraries (e.g., Streamlit).
Competences:
Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish.
Excellent communication skills for producing documentation (reports, manuals, papers).
Conditions
Full-time contract (37.5h/week) at BSC within the CASE Department.
