Key Job Responsibilities Designing, developing, testing, troubleshooting, debugging, deploying, maintaining, documenting, and delivering large-scale, highly distributed, real-time management systems that are core to effectively managing the supply chain business.
Using Java, object-oriented (OO) design patterns, NoSQL DBs, and data modeling techniques.
Gathering and analyzing business and functional requirements, and translating business requirements into technical design specifications.
Serving as a key technical resource in the full development cycle.
Producing comprehensive, usable software documentation.
Recommending changes in development, maintenance, and system standards.
Working in an agile development environment, where you are always working on the most important tasks.
Hiring, coaching, and mentoring individuals.
About the Team The Retail Capacity Control team owns capacity management across the entire supply chain while addressing the complexity of managing inventory flow and storage across multiple systems.
We build large scale, high availability software systems that use mathematical modeling and software optimization to influence millions of decisions on how to optimally place and route inventory across Amazon's network.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets.
The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market.
Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
