Senior Trade Compliance The Senior Trade Compliance collaborates with Global Trade Compliance to ensure that transactions satisfy legal requirements to file complete and accurate export and import declarations with local customs and other government authorities for international shipments. Responsible for the correct and accurate import and export classifications, customs values, and country of origin. This position will collaborate with local teams and provide logistics import and export compliance support. Here's What You'll Do:Your key responsibilities will be:Work as part of the Trade Compliance team with a focus on SpainAssist with managing day-to-day operations of complianceManage projects and tasks, as assigned, within the team and/or with external teams and/or vendorsAssist with implementing local and regional policies, guidelines, and proceduresYour responsibilities will also include:Assist with ensuring operating manuals and procedural documents stay current when regulations changeDevelop and maintain standard operating procedures for internal and external operators (brokers/agents/freight forwarders)Take responsibility for the classification of import/export goods consistent with the Harmonised Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Control Numbers (ECN)Review and enter compliance data into SAP/GTS and other Moderna systemsKeep abreast of trade regulatory changes and challengesLiaise with other stakeholders in the businessPrepare and conduct continuing educationPrepare reports for internal managementPerform audits of import and export transactions with a focus on SpainMaintenance of import/export recordsEnsure that the Trade Compliance process is sufficient and is carried out as requiredThe key Moderna Mindsets you'll need to succeed in the role:We act with urgency: This role requires swift action to ensure compliance with evolving trade regulations, impacting Moderna's ability to deliver innovative mRNA products timely.We pursue options in parallel: You'll need to explore multiple compliance strategies simultaneously to optimize trade operations and maintain regulatory adherence.Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:Bachelor's degree in a related field (Business, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain Management, International Business) or equivalent experience in place of a degreeMinimum 5 years of work experience, including at least 2 years of experience in a compliance, legal, auditing or investigation role in life sciences, preferably in the biotechnology, medical device, and/or pharmaceutical industries.Experience managing and planning import and export processes, customs documentation, shipping and receiving of commodities across multiple countries.Knowledge of GDPRStrong customer focus, work ethic and integrityExperience of working in a fast-paced environment.Strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, with a positive attitude.Strong critical thinking with sound judgment and decision-making skills.Must be self-directed, proactive, motivated, and a fast learner.Able to work independentlyExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to work confidently within groups in a multinational company and respond to global/cultural sensitivities.Communicate effectively in English, spoken and writtenExcellent time managementKnowledge of SAP GTS and SAP FioriProficiency with Microsoft Office applications with a focus on ExcelModerna offers personalized benefit programs and well-being resources as unique as our global workforce so employees can do their best work.
