What You'll Do (the Role)
This role will play a key role in delivering the regional power market strategy for Europe, which is a key geographical focus for our ambitious plan for growth. Responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing offtake strategy for projects in the development pipeline by securing Power Purchase Agreements or other relevant agreements.
Identifying and developing market opportunities with major energy users and utilities, primarily focused on projects in Portugal, Spain, and Italy.
Working with suppliers and other market participants to develop innovative routes to market to secure bankable revenue to support solar development.
Collaborating with the legal department, structured finance, and other internal stakeholders to negotiate heads of terms & PPA contracts.
Liaising with structured finance, development, and commercial managers to create power marketing solutions that optimize funding opportunities and enable development.
Understanding developments in the European markets and energy policy and their impact on Power marketing.
Who We're Looking For
Knowledge:
Comprehensive knowledge of the European power markets is essential, along with utility-scale renewables experience. Candidates should have:
Multiyear experience of negotiating Power Purchase Agreements in the relevant markets.
A successful track record of originating and executing complex energy projects and/or transactions.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
Experience presenting at various levels, including internal and external stakeholders.
Experience:
Deep experience in one or ideally more of the relevant power markets, including:
Origination and negotiation of long-term power purchase agreements.
Participation in renewable energy support auctions.
Power trading and risk management.
Personal Qualities:
A highly motivated individual who can flourish in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Candidates should demonstrate:
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally in English; proficiency in another European language is desirable.
Commercial drive and capability to lead complex negotiations.
Integrity, credibility, and professionalism.
Willingness and ability to travel across Europe as required.
Creative thinking to find solutions and adapt to market developments.
