We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Infrastructure and Operations team in IT. As a Database Administrator at our company, you will be responsible for designing, testing, planning, implementing, protecting, operating, managing and maintaining our company's databases. Additionally, as we want to enable a broad experience, you will also support infrastructure and operations topics for cloud-based (AWS EC2, AWS ECS, VPC networking) and few on-premise deployed infrastructures.
Our goal is to build a high-performance agile team delivering state-of-the-art, highly automated and scalable infrastructures to our platform and to our other IT product teams (e.g. Workplace Technology, Business and Enterprise Applications, Security, Service Desk). In this role you will:
Deploy, tune, implement and upgrade scalable distributed DBMS installations
Provide guidance and support to Application Developers and collaborate with other team members and business stakeholders
Assist with schema design, code review and SQL query tuning
Write and deploy SQL patches in automated fashion using Shell and Python
Proactively and regularly make recommendations for system improvements
Collate, prepare and present statistical information for internal and external use
Actively contribute to other infrastructure initiatives outside DBA core responsibilities
Closely collaborate with our DevOps teams and constantly evaluate, agree and deliver improvement potentials
Actively train and share knowledge with your fellow infrastructure and operations, as well as DevOps colleagues to spread skills and experiences in the team in order to increase resilience and capacity
What you bring:
5+ years of overall IT experience, with 3+ years of relevant experience in the following:
Experience on code versioning tools like GIT
Experience on monitoring tools like Zabbix, Grafana and Prometheus
Experience working with Agile methodologies and technologies like Scrum, Kanban and JIRA
Experience in general infrastructure topics in networking, on-premise and cloud infrastructures, in particular for virtualization and containerization.
High customer-orientation with a continuous improvement mindset
Focus on continuous learning and development, you are constantly screening the market for new technologies and trends, and enjoy evaluating innovations
Fluency in spoken and written English. German, Spanish or Italian are a plus
Implement and manage company data management practices and policies
Good understanding of data and schema standards and concepts
Good understanding database design, implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance
Be a team player with critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Good time-management skills and great interpersonal and communication skills
