This is an exciting new role where you will support the SSE European development and construction projects to ensure consistent SHE (Safety, Health & Environmental) compliance and standards are met to keep people, assets and the environment safe from harm.Base Location:Madrid or Bilbao, SpainSalary:€Competitive + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.Working Pattern:Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options availableOne of your first main priorities will be to develop a suite of European country-by-country Project SHE documents, including Safety Management Systems which are compatible with each region/country and can be consistently applied across all of our European projects.Your key responsibilities will include:Being a trusted partner to the senior leadership team across Europe ensuring they have the necessary information, support, guidance and tools to safely manage the assets, projects and people (both direct employees and contractors), in line with the SSE Safety Family programme.Supporting the business, project directors and SHE manager to ensure that the correct resources are allocated both operationally and to project delivery within their remit to minimise injuries, accidents or environmental impacts. This will involve completing due diligence exercises, SHE assessments/audits of businesses/operations and contractors and feeding back any issues or risks.Building and maintaining excellent working relationships through strong engagement with key stakeholders including Regulatory authorities, Industry Bodies, Designers, contractors and Joint Venture partners.Provide first class reporting and metrics to ensure all activities, issues and key metrics (e.g. safe days, hours worked, KPIs, incidents) are clearly logged, tracked and communicated as appropriate.Take the lead on incidences and investigations as appropriate, using a range of SHE tools and techniques to establish the root cause of an injury/illness/incident to avoid reoccurrence.What do I need?We'd also love you to have:Experience of developing, implementing, communicating, auditing, assessing and improving Health and Safety Management Systems, processes and techniques that will minimise risk to our people, assets, projects and the environment, and adhere to SSE, regulatory, legislative and country-specific standards.Ability to produce both business-level and operational-level SHE related documentation, including procedures, guidance notes and contractual requirements.Experience in incident investigation using recognised processes and techniques, and the ability to conduct and deliver these with professionalism, credibility and collaboratively to ensure learnings are captured and shared, issues fully discussed and future risks minimised.Ability to work on your own as well as part of a team, with the credibility, confidence and resilience to coach and influence colleagues and externals partners/stakeholders with a focus on building strong relationships based on trust and mutual respect.About SSE RenewablesSSE has big ambitions to be a leading energy company in a low carbon world.
