Context And Mission
The Life Sciences Department from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center is establishing a new team on Health Data Research that will collaborate closely with the INB/ELIXIR-ES unit. The selected candidates will have responsibility for ensuring the accessibility, usability, integrity, and security of biomedical data throughout its lifecycle in different projects, beyond the individual project level to include the management of data assets across different research communities. Key Duties
Participate in data management planning for research projects, including data storage, backup, and archiving strategies.
Facilitate data sharing and collaboration among research teams, both within the organization and with external partners.
Implement and promote best practices in data stewardship and management, ensuring data is findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR).
Develop and maintain data governance policies and procedures.
Provide training and support to researchers on data management best practices and tools.
Requirements
Education
MSc in data science, bioinformatics, or a related field.
Alternatively, demonstrated experience in data management and stewardship.
Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Experience in data stewardship and research data management.
Familiarity with FAIR data principles and best practices in data quality management.
Familiarity with data analysis with R, Python or SQL.
Understanding of the regulatory requirements related to biomedical data management.
Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Fluency in spoken and written English.
Competences
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Conditions
The position will be located at BSC within the Life Sciences Department.
We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week), a good working environment, flexible working hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, and support for relocation procedures.
Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration.
Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus the 24th and 31st of December as per our collective agreement.
Salary: We offer a competitive salary commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the candidate and according to the cost of living in Barcelona.
Starting date: ASAP.
