Setting and ReportingThis position is located in the Sustainable Development and Disaster Unit of the ECLAC Subregional Headquarters for the Caribbean, located in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, serving 26 countries and territories of the Caribbean subregion.
The Research Assistant reports to the Coordinator of the Sustainable Development and Disaster Unit.
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations.It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region's economic and social development.
Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities.
Please visit our website at www.Eclac.Org for further information.Responsibilities Within limits of delegated authority, the Research Assistant may be responsible for the following duties:Responds or drafts responses to subject specific correspondence and other communications; uses standard word processing package to produce a wide variety of large, complex documents and reports.Monitors and prepares draft reports related to the unit's outputs, products, tasks, etc.Prepares a variety of reports, presentations, tables, lists, graphs, charts and/or diagrams for information and review by senior officers.Researches, compiles, prepares drafts outputs and organizes information and reference materials from various sources for reports, work plans, studies, briefings, meetings/conferences, etc.Researches and generates a variety of standard statistical and other reports, work orders, etc., using various databases.Proofreads documents and edits texts for accuracy, grammar, punctuation and style, and for adherence to established standards for format.Provides meetings and workshops planning, delivery and other logistics support to meetings, boards, committees, conferences, etc.Provides support in the preparation of meetings notes and workshop reports in accordance with established standard formats.Assists in the research and in the preparation of presentation materials using appropriate technology/software.Updates and maintains large distribution lists; monitors, prepares and distributes various materials, reports, where possible using electronic formats; handles arrangement forprinting and translation as necessary; coordinates shipment arrangements, courier services, etc.Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.Performs other duties as assigned
