The Senior Manager Customs & Indirect Tax is, on group level, responsible for the handling of all EU VAT and Customs topics, including tax planning, internal restructuring, transfer pricing questions, global tax compliance monitoring and other tax related projects. The position holder, furthermore, constantly reviews the VAT exposure and compliance processes, including process automation and system solutions, leading to resolved Pan European tax and customs audits. This role is required to monitor and manage compliance in the area of indirect tax and customs regulation for the European group companies,
in particular entities that are serviced out of the European Financial Shared Service Centre situated in Eindhoven (NL). As a subject matter expert for the implementation and maintenance of our SAP tax engine, the position holder develops and implements further process automation and system solutions. The Senior Manager Customs & Indirect Tax frequently liaises with the tax team at group headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, and coordinates tax matters with the local country finance/operations staff. The Senior Manager Customs & Indirect Tax reports to the Global Head of Tax. The role is located in Madrid (Spain).
RESPONSIBILITIESProcesses and Compliance
Develops and executes comprehensive tax planning strategies, internal restructuring, and transfer pricing initiatives on a group level.
Oversees global tax compliance monitoring and leads various tax-related projects to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Constantly reviews and optimizes VAT exposure and compliance processes, implementing process automation and system solutions for enhanced efficiency.
Leads the resolution of Pan European tax and customs audits, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of risks.
Serves as the key point of contact for tax authorities, addressing inquiries and collaborating with cross-functional teams to address compliance challenges.
Ensures adherence to customs regulations and procedures across the organization, overseeing customs compliance activities for imports and exports.Cost Management
Develops and implements strategies to minimize customs duties, taxes, and fees legally.
Leads the management and optimization of suspensive regimes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and leveraging these regimes for cost savings.
Evaluates and optimizes tariff codes and valuation of goods, ensuring accurate and compliant declarations.Documentation and Audits
Oversees the preparation and maintenance of accurate customs documentation, ensuring completeness and compliance.
Establishes robust record-keeping processes to facilitate efficient audits and inquiries.
Conduct regular internal audits to assess trade compliance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
