Your role As a Purchasing Intern, you will play a key role in supporting the purchasing department by assisting with various tasks related to the procurement of goods and services.
You will assist in communicating with suppliers to request quotes, place orders, and ensure the timely delivery of goods and services.
You will support the preparation and processing of purchase orders, ensuring that all order details, such as item descriptions, quantities, and pricing, are accurate.
Additionally, you will help track inventory levels, ensuring that stock is maintained at optimal levels and assisting in identifying when new orders are needed to prevent stockouts.
You will also conduct research to identify potential suppliers, compare prices, and evaluate product quality to help the company make informed purchasing decisions.
You will maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchases, delivery schedules, and supplier information within the company's procurement system.
Furthermore, you will assist in checking supplier invoices against purchase orders and delivery notes to ensure accuracy before processing payments.
Lastly, you will support efforts to analyze costs and find opportunities for savings or improvements, including helping negotiate better terms with suppliers when necessary.
By supporting these tasks, you will gain hands-on experience in the purchasing process and learn the key functions that ensure the company's operations run smoothly.

What do you bring to your trip Familiarity with Microsoft Office or Google Suite: Having experience with programs like Excel, Word, and Google Sheets is valuable, as these are commonly used for tracking purchases, creating reports, and managing supplier information.
Basic Knowledge of Supply Chain or Procurement: A background in supply chain management, inventory control, or procurement processes, even at an introductory level, would be helpful.
Customer Service or Communication Skills: Experience in customer-facing roles or any job that involved clear communication with clients, vendors, or internal teams can be beneficial for handling supplier relations and purchase order processing.
Attention to Detail and Organizational Skills: Experience with managing schedules, handling multiple tasks, or working with data can demonstrate an ability to stay organized and ensure accuracy in tasks like tracking orders and processing invoices.
Problem-Solving: Any experience where you identified and resolved issues, such as troubleshooting or optimizing processes, would be useful for handling unexpected challenges in purchasing.
