Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud.
Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft's cloud business.
The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects.

The Project Engineer supports data center construction/integration activities on local/campus projects and provides recommendations on all data center fit-out related activities, applying existing knowledge and independent judgment to ensure sound and data-driven decisions, with minimal guidance.
Provides feedback to engineering documentation/designs, site, and building plans by examining and analyzing technical information, with minimal guidance.
Works with others to facilitate the delivery of local projects by providing recommendations on timely data-based decisions in partnership with local project teams and stakeholders, with minimal guidance.
Verifies that the scoped resources are available for the job.
Provides specific project data supporting cost and key performance indicator metrics, invoices, processes, and policies in order to communicate status to client partners, with minimal guidance.
Attends scheduled owner/architect/contractor and other project meetings.
Establishes relationships with internal teams to maintain the corporate vision and goals for the project, with minimal guidance.
Follows guidelines and advocates for adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and aggressive management of risk.
Assists with developing risk mitigation activities and communicating metrics, dashboards, and/or scorecards to track and drive progress.
Assists with the monitoring of vendor and/or contractor performance, ensuring compliance with contracts and prior audit results.

This includes knowledge of quality measurements and defined standards.Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of the rules, regulations, sanctions and other statutory requirements, guidelines and instructions relating to local and/or international governing bodies and organizations, both internally and externally.Risk Analysis: Knowledge of Risk Management and Analysis, the process of measuring, or assessing risk and then developing strategies to manage the risk.Construction Planning and Logistics: Leveraging knowledge of construction work and/or processes to accurately track and manage high- and low-level details through a project.Financial Responsibility: Keeping in mind the bottom-line of a project and weighing options as a project progresses to make the most financially responsible decision available.Managing Vendor and Stakeholder Relationships: Collaborating with and managing vendors and/or stakeholders through the process of planning and executing construction build projects.Budget and Controls: Monitors the approved project budget, provides oversight, and suggests necessary adjustments for project controls.Change Management: Partners with the Internal Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) and other Microsoft key stakeholders and shares updated process flow information with the project team.Drives Results: Facilitates the delivery of metro-based/campus projects by making timely data-based decisions in partnership with the local project team and key stakeholders.Managing Resources: Oversees timely execution of all procurement activities associated with resourcing and materials necessary for delivering program(s) on time and within project budget forecasts.Safety and Regulation: Represents Microsoft as a safety leader and advocate on all Campus/Metro construction programs.Vendor Management: Advises and monitors the performance of vendors and/or contractors, ensuring compliance with contracts and prior audit results.Vendor Selection: Reviews and approves vendor scope of work, design review of site and building plans, pay-application, and invoices.Qualifications Required/minimum qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND substantial related experience OR equivalent experience.
Background Check Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
