Position OverviewBorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for a dynamic, results-driven individual to join as Product Failure Engineer at our new production plant in Viana, Portugal.
Key AccountabilitiesBOM Management: Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) in SAP for mechanical components and assemblies.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of BOMs to support manufacturing and procurement processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to update BOMs based on design changes and improvements.Cost Reduction: Identify opportunities for cost reduction in product design and manufacturing processes.
Implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining product quality and performance.
Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to optimize material usage and reduce waste.Problem Solving: Perform root cause analysis on mechanical failures and implement corrective actions.
Develop and execute test plans to identify potential failure modes and improve product reliability.
Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to analyze mechanical issues.Claims and Field Analysis: Investigate and analyze mechanical product claims and field issues to determine root causes.
Develop and implement corrective actions to address identified issues.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product reliability based on field data.Quality Assurance: Establish and maintain quality control processes for mechanical products.
Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure product quality and consistency.
Monitor and report on product performance metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives.Production Support: Provide support for current production and new product launches.
Utilize statistical problem-solving tools and define rework procedures.
