ICFO is offering a postdoctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated, and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in a friendly and stimulating environment.
The successful candidate will be joining the CO2 Mitigation Accelerated by Photons group led by Prof. Dr. F. Pelayo García de Arquer who is looking for exceptional researchers, with an excellent proven track record, to develop efficient catalysts, electrodes, and systems to convert captured CO2 and upgrade reactive carbon solutions into value-added chemicals.
The successful candidate will lead on the design and characterization of novel catalysts and their implementation into nanostructured electrodes within flow cell- and MEA-based reactors. The candidate will work together with other group members and collaborators.
The postdoctoral candidate will have the opportunity to work in an EU vibrant project at the intersection of spectroscopies, electrochemistry, materials science, and chemical engineering, as well as utilize state-of-the-art fabrication and characterization facilities.

Candidates must hold, at the time of contract initiation, an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) preferably in Electrochemistry, Materials science, Chemical engineering, and/or Chemistry.
The successful candidate will combine proven expertise in several of the following domains:
Strong background in electrochemistry and chemical engineering Experience in CO2 electrolysis Experience in CO2 electrochemistry in flow-cell and/or MEA reactors Experience in gas diffusion electrodes Electrode fabrication and membrane integration Strong background in analytical chemistry for product quantification ICFO is an equal opportunity employer. Salaries for ICFO Postdoctoral positions are assigned by the Selection Committee, based on experience and seniority of the applicant, as well as the assigned tasks and responsibilities within the group. Standard salaries range from a lower level aligned with national Ramon-y-Cajal fellowships to higher levels aligned with Marie Sklodowska-Curie individual fellowships.
The contract is offered for a period of 3 years.
Additionally, a family allowance is also available on request and after corresponding approval for people with family charges in the terms described in the corresponding policy.
