Planning Team Lead The purpose of the Planning Team Lead is to lead and direct the Planning team south in close collaboration with the Buying Manager / Buyer to plan and deliver the annual budget targets and category strategy by optimizing the product assortment in line with customer, brand and multichannel location requirements.
Key Individual ResponsibilitiesTeam ManagementBuild and effectively manage a professional Planning team ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, processes and tools to plan, forecast and manage the category and to achieve ASICS strategic and commercial targets.Build good working relationships with key related functions communicating category plans and solving business issues: Buying, Sales, Operations, IT.Financial PlanningBuild the financial plan to deliver the range and campaign strategy and commercial goals at multiple levels of aggregation (Wholesale & Retail).Ensure that OTB plans and forecasts are set up at seasonal and key planning levels to drive and maximise sales and profit performance.Create long term financial plans for future growth and identify the team expertise and structure required to support.Own and manage a rolling forecast to ensure clarity on performance within all the product KPI's and make pro-active recommendations for future trading activities to influence the performance of the current financial year.Sign off the line forecasting with Head of Planning and ensure that the team are accurately forecasting.Assortment PlanningLine Development: In collaboration with the Buying Manager / Buyer, consolidate business insights from previous seasons to guide future assortment strategies and design briefs using historical analysis and market knowledge / trends.Adaptation: In conjunction with the Buying Manager / Buyer, adjust and adapt commercial expectations as the line develops and raise any risks or opportunities to the financials.Marketing Campaigns: Ensure that marketing campaigns are effectively integrated into the planning process and supported with both key campaign assortments and key items.Guide the development of future assortment strategies through understanding business strategy and translating it clearly into a commercial assortment direction.Own the commercial forecasting of the end to end buy process from design through to delivery in store.Trade Performance ManagementManage in season trading through assessment of opportunities and risks at key reporting levels, suggesting corrective action with tactics to improve sales and profitability.KPI Reporting: Ensure that trading strategies, OTB Management, stock targets, sell through and price/markdown management are comprehensively reported on.Merchandise Forecasting: Manage the regular reforecasting process to ensure that all stakeholders have visibility to seasonal sales, profitability and sell through plans. Manage the monthly forecasting process to ensure timely submission and communication across the business.Systems and ProcessContinuously monitor ways of working and suggest opportunities for improved efficiency and process enhancement.Develop a clear understanding of the systems and data flow within ASICS to be able to identify opportunities for improvement.Work with the key relationships within the business to manage the flow and accuracy.Create and Implement new projects ensuring training and process are clearly mapped out for the teams involved and follow up to ensure consistency and success of individual projects.Drive the S&OP process to achieve accurate forecasting and resolution of supply issues.Analysis and ReportingDevelop a clear understanding of the requirements for accurate Master Data management and work with key stakeholders to manage the flow and accuracy.Develop and manage the critical path for the financial product planning process within ASICS ensuring that all areas of the business are aware of the requirement.Ensure the team have a clear reporting suite that allows the analysis of all seasonal product performance.Profile RequirementsKey Competencies & BehavioursA leader.Confident with ability to influence.Cross functional team player.Proactive.Stress resistance.Organised.Process driven.Highly analytical.Excellent Written and verbal communication.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.Strong Problem solver.Experience / CredentialsBachelor degree in Retail Management or related field.A minimum of 6 years relevant experience gained in a multi-channel, professional scale retail environment.Highly numerate - data rational in order to analyse, see trends and spot problems.Can clearly present financial strategies (linked to the buy) at all levels.Financial planning and assortment planning skills.Strong leadership skills.Advanced Excel skills.Good financial awareness and acumen.
