Job Description Summary: As the chemical technician, your functions in Malaga Combined Cycle Power Plant are mainly based on the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant and the main cooling tower, reporting to the Chemical Engineer.
You will control and maintain plant equipment such as pH meters, conductivity meters, and laboratory instrumentation.
It will be your responsibility to calibrate and verify the instrumentation to achieve accurate measurements.
The chemical technician must also interpret data and perform chemical laboratory analyses.
You will collect and test water samples for chemical and bacterial content to accomplish legal requirements.
You should be familiar with water pollution standards set by the administration.Job Purpose and Responsibilities:Work within a maintenance team being directly involved in all areas of chemical control and operation in a safe and efficient manner.Conduct analytical tests for the purposes of environmental impact, quality assurance, regulatory adherence, safety inspection, or sample testing.Perform sampling and analytical tasks necessary for proper operation of the plant and to meet specific regulations.Manage external laboratory samples.Maintain equipment (corrective, preventive, calibration).Control water treatment and chemical products.Discharge chemical products and keep updated the MSDS.Perform all obligations as decided and directed by the Head of the Power Plant.Promote an effective safety culture and ensure compliance with company and legislative environmental, safety, and hygiene requirements.Required Qualifications:Recognized Tertiary Chemistry or Environment related Qualification.Practical knowledge of safety practices as it relates to experimental design and lab practices.Water treatment process knowledge.Must be willing to work out of the laboratory/office.Drive license B.The post holder must be trained in accordance with the requirements of this post, or any other training directed by the line manager.Desired Characteristics:Forklift course.Prevention of legionella training.ADR (dangerous goods) training.Good oral and written communication skills.
