Job Description: Operations & Compliance Manager, Spain

Your responsibilities:
Market Operations Management:

- Oversee the daily operations in Spain, ensuring that business activities align with the company's goals and market demands.
- Coordinate with teams across Spain to optimise operational efficiency, addressing regional nuances.

Regulatory Compliance and System Setup:

- Design, implement, and manage comprehensive compliance systems that align with Spain's regulatory requirements.
- Establish protocols to ensure ongoing compliance with Spanish laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Stay informed about regulatory changes in Spain and update the compliance systems accordingly.

Local Liaison and Stakeholder Management:

- Act as the primary contact for regulatory bodies, government agencies, and local authorities in Madrid and across Spain.
- Foster and maintain relationships with local stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and regulatory compliance.

Operational Coordination and Compliance Systems:

- Develop and coordinate the implementation of compliance systems across all operational departments, ensuring that they align with Spain's regulatory frameworks.
- Collaborate with regional and local teams to train them on new compliance systems and procedures.

Permitting and Regulatory Approvals:

- Assist in obtaining all necessary permits for operations and construction, ensuring compliance with local, regional, and national regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the submission of permit applications and track their progress, ensuring adherence to timelines.
- Liaise with government authorities and relevant agencies to ensure the timely acquisition of permits and regulatory approvals.

Risk Management and Compliance Monitoring:

- Set up monitoring tools and risk management protocols to identify and mitigate compliance risks within the Spanish market.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of the compliance systems, making adjustments as necessary to maintain regulatory standards.

Process Improvement and Compliance Innovation:

- Continuously evaluate and improve operational processes with a focus on compliance systems integration.
- Explore new technologies or methodologies that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of compliance management across Spain.

Reporting and Compliance Documentation:

- Maintain thorough documentation of the compliance systems, ensuring traceability and easy access for audits.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on the progress of compliance system implementation and any operational issues within Spain.

Team Leadership:

- Manage the Spanish team, ensuring they understand and adhere to local compliance and operational standards.
- Mentor and guide team members on best practices in operational management and compliance within Spain.

Skills/Requirements:

- Education; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Experience in Compliance and Operations; Experience in operations management, compliance, or a similar role, preferably within the Spanish market. Proven track record of setting up and managing compliance systems in a highly regulated environment.
- Knowledge of Spanish Market: Strong familiarity with Spanish laws, regulations, and industry standards related to compliance and operations. Previous experience working in or with the Spanish market, including understanding cultural and business nuances.
- Project Management: Strong ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and teams efficiently.
- Risk Management: Expertise in identifying, analysing, and mitigating operational and compliance risks. Experience in conducting risk assessments, implementing risk management strategies, and establishing monitoring tools.
- Stakeholder and Relationship Management: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work as a local liaison with regulatory bodies, external partners, and internal teams.
- Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring teams. Ability to lead compliance training initiatives and ensure team adherence to compliance policies.
- Technical Skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), project management software, and compliance tools.
- Fluency in Spanish and English: Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English, given the local and national scope of the role. Demonstrates independence and assertiveness, with an ability to work in a team and feel comfortable in an international work environment.
- Travel: Willingness to travel within Spain.
