Title: UABOS Spain: Assistant Fire Chief of PreventionAssistant Fire Chief for Fire Prevention (Mandatory AN)DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensure fire inspection and fire drill frequency is appropriate to facility occupancy classification.Coordinate all fire drills with the facility manager.Coordinate all inspections with the facility manager and advise them of any hazards or fire safety deficiencies (FSDS).Manage, track, and document hazards and FSDs IAW AFI 32-10141, Planning and Programming Fire Safety Deficiency Correction Projects.Ensure commercial cooking appliances, exhaust hoods and kitchen fire extinguishing systems are inspected IAW Air Force Occupational Safety and Health (AFOSH) Standard 91-501, Air Force Consolidated Occupational Safety Standard and NFPA 96, Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations.Review and sign work requests that modify, renovate, or change the function of a facility to ensure fire safety standards are met.Issue, manage and track permits for welding, cutting, and brazing operations and inspect operations to ensure fire safe practices are being observed.Train permanently assigned personnel in fire prevention upon initial arrival on station and on an annual basis.Maintain and test hand-held and flight line fire extinguishers and ensure that they are operational IAW TOs and manufacturer's instructions.Maintain records documenting inspections, maintenance, and repairs.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:Shall possess a High School diploma or equivalent.Shall have ten years' experience in fire protection with three of the years as a fire inspector.Proficient in Spanish, spoken and written.Shall have experience in Technical Services and directing and performing duties on a Hazardous Materials Response Team within the limits of NFPA Standard 472.Shall have knowledge of the chemistry of fire and experience with inspection and testing of installed fire detection and suppression systems.Shall have knowledge of physical and chemical properties of combustible materials, building structures and their component systems, identification and correction of fire hazards and deficiencies, inspections, maintenance, testing and distribution of flight line and portable fire extinguishers.Shall be able to interpret national building and life safety codes.Shall review engineering plans and specifications for new construction, major repairs, renovations, alterations, and extension of existing structures.Shall recommend changes and additions based on sound fire prevention engineering principles, and directives and standards to ensure plans include appropriate fire protection requirements as called for in agency regulations, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) building codes, and other applicable guidelines where NICET Level 4 or Registered Fire Protection Engineers reviews, stamps or certifications are not required.Shall meet position certifications IAW DOD Manual 6055.06, dated 22 January 2020.REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:DoD/Pro-Board/IFSAC Fire Inspector IIIPublic Fire & Life Safety Educator I and IIPlans Examiner IFire Officer IIIFire Instructor IIHazMat Incident CommanderIncident Safety Officer with FEMA ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 & 800KBR is an equal opportunity employer.
