.Job Description - Marine Cargo Underwriter (14002442D20241018)DISCOVER your opportunityThe Spanish Marine & Aviation Underwriting Team within AXA XL provides insurance solutions for a diverse portfolio of large and corporate clients globally, offering a broad range of insurance solutions like Marine Cargo Policies, Project Cargo Policies, Freight Forwarders Liability Policies, Shipper's Interest Insurance Policies, General Aviation Policies, Products/Airports liability for aviation policies.Our Marine & Aviation Underwriting team has a great opportunity for an experienced underwriter to join this successful team and support the expansion of the practice.As Underwriter, you will play a critical role within the team, focusing on assessing, quoting, and underwriting potential risks, processing deal documentation, managing workflow, establishing strong relationships internally and externally, and acting as the critical interface between the broker/clients and AXA XL. You are expected to generate profitable premium and develop broker and client relationships as we continue to build our underwriting capability.Joining AXA XL is a great foundation step to launch your career; it can be a daunting adventure, but at AXA XL, we have industry experts and a market-leading Underwriting Academy to support you on that learning journey.What will your essential responsibilities include?Underwrite, manage, and service a renewal book and produce new business.Analysis and evaluation of risks.Negotiate with producers to achieve profit objectives.Maintain expertise with the products, services, priorities, and targeted markets.Support the business planning and forecasting process; monitor financial exposure and premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.Maintain awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.Identify and drive new product development opportunities.Ensure all underwriting activities are documented on the underwriting systems to the required data quality standards and ensure metrics meet the standards of the company.You will report to the Marine & Aviation Manager, Iberia.We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:Desired University Degree and knowledge in the maritime industry (e.G., Master).Understanding of Insurance industry fundamentals and proven experience in marine/cargo Underwriting activities. Aviation Underwriting experience will be highly evaluated.Proficiency in English and Spanish is required; other languages are a plus.Robust communication and negotiation skills.Analytical skills and mathematical abilities.Excellent problem-solving and data-driven decision-making skills combined with a strong work ethic.Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, producers, and brokers as well as across AXA XL and AXA Group entities
