About the Role
Summary
The main purpose of this role will be to support the grid connections process by Lightsource bp projects in Europe. It will be your responsibility to manage the relationship with local DNO/DSO around European countries to ensure our projects comply with requirements established in the grid code or similar laws, analyzing how these requirements technically impact plant design and the testing, certification, commissioning and authorization process. The position requires both technical and commercial skills and will be highly interactive with other organizations in the firm. Contacts and knowledge of the DNO/DSO -ICPs and governmental agencies responsible for grid connections is required. As a Grid Regulatory Affair officer in the Grid Team, you will be responsible for collecting, analysing and keeping up to date with all laws, codes and standards relating to the connection of renewable plants (especially PV plants) in the EMEA region.
You will also be knowledgeable in other regions such as the USA/Canada, LATAM, Asia or Australia, where you will support other members of the company involved in these markets. You will also be the company's point of contact as a link with TSO/DNOs regarding grid code compliance. You will participate in representing the company in any event, webinar or working group related to regulatory aspects and grid code compliance. You will support the simulation team by providing them with the requirements set out in each country regarding grid code compliance so that they can perform the simulations correctly.
Duties and Responsibilities
Representing and safeguarding the interest of Lightsource BP before DNO/TSO in those European countries where Lightsource BP has a presence.
To know the connection processes in the TSO/DNO in each country, as well as to establish direct contact with these utilities in order to be able to manage in an agile and efficient way the problems that may arise during this process.
Discussing technical aspects of the connection process and grid code requirements with manufacturers, consultants, certifiers and TSO/DNOs, among other stakeholders.
Representing Grid Department at relevant Development Meetings and Delivery Meetings as required by Lightsource bp.
Developing and maintaining relationships with leading power system consultancies and technical advisors internationally.
Analyzing and providing support to Head of Regulatory & Grid Code about grid connection process in those European countries where Lightsource BP has a presence.
Creating in conjunction with Head of Regulatory & Grid Code a Grid Risk Matrix.
Analyzing and ensuring compliance with the requirements established in the Grid Code documentation in those European countries where Lightsource BP has a presence.
Supporting the Grid Connection Manager to define a right strategy for Grid Connections Process in conjunction with Head of Regulatory & Grid Code.
Providing regulatory assessment in those European countries where Lightsource BP has a presence.
Collaborating in carrying out the necessary electrical studies for the wind & solar farms developed by Lightsource BP around European countries.
To provide technical assistance during project development and ensure the factors influencing and influenced by the grid connection are considered.
To support the simulation team by providing them with the requirements set out in each country regarding grid code compliance so that they can perform the simulations correctly.
To know the technologies involved in the design of the photovoltaic plant (inverters, storage, PPC,...) and their capacities, in order to determine the demands of the requirements established in the grid code and to know if they can be achieved or if there are technological limitations.
To know the TSO/DNO's grid development plans in the different countries and determine how these strategic plans impact the development of the company's business.
Reviewing any power system capabilities or curtailment analysis to assess the export constraints over excellent relationships with the TSO/DNO planning, grid, design and delivery teams.
