Health & Safety Specialist
Occupational/Labour Prevention Unit – Vall d'Hebron University Hospital Campus - VHIR
The Occupational/Labour Prevention Unit is looking to hire a Health & Safety Specialist to provide technical support in planning and carrying out the preventive activities necessary to ensure adequate protection of workers' health and safety.
The successful candidate will develop general preventive tasks associated with the specialties of safety, hygiene, ergonomics and psychosocial measures.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Education and qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in sciences (chemistry) or biosciences (biology, microbiology).
Higher education in Occupational Risk Prevention (ORP), occupational safety specialties, industrial hygiene and ergonomics, and psycho-sociology.
MS Office (Word and Excel) medium-high level.
Desired:
Training in ORP in biomedical research laboratories.
Accredited technician in self-protection planning.
English language (intermediate).
Catalan language (level C1).
Experience and knowledge:
Required:
Minimum experience of 2 years in a similar position within biomedical research laboratories.
Desired:
Knowledge of ORP and environmental management systems.
Main responsibilities and duties:
Apply prevention plans and programs to the Vall d'Hebron Campus in accordance with the objectives set by the Basic Prevention Unit.
Carry out risk assessments from workplaces and periodic control of working conditions in order to identify areas for improvement and propose preventive measures.
Support in the elaboration, update and implementation of the self-protection plans of the VHIR and VHIO centres, according to current regulations, to effectively address actions in case of emergency.
Collaborate in the implementation, planning and realization of drills.
Report on the risks detected in terms of safety, hygiene, ergonomics and/or psychosociology. Propose planning of the necessary preventive action needed.
Advise on training and information plans for staff, including the detection of needs and the establishment of evaluation systems and monitoring measures.
Review the investigations of work accidents in order to objectify their causes and propose corrective measures to avoid repetition.
Carry out general training and information tasks at all levels related to ORP.
Give advice and technical assistance for the consultation, communication and participation of workers.
Carry out tasks in relation to the CAE with external companies.
Any other related functions or tasks assigned by the Head of Unit.
Labour conditions:
Full-time position: 37.5 hours/week.
Starting date: September 2024.
Gross annual salary: 28,000 – 33,000 euros (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale).
Contract: permanent.
