Summary / Role Purpose The Academic Account Manager will increase new and existing business by adapting ANSYS engineering simulation products and solutions into customers' research and teaching environments, ultimately helping educators, researchers and students add simulation software into their curricula and projects. The Academic Account Manager is responsible for:
The promotion of the use of ANSYS simulation tools in universities for research and teaching activities within their assigned geographical territory.
Maximizing adoption and revenue growth, and account penetration.
Establishing and maintaining regular contact with key university advocates, IT groups, and Professors to ensure the sale and adoption of ANSYS tools throughout universities.
Creating a plan to develop the territory and working closely with Ansys channel partners to reach both revenue goals and adoption of Ansys in research and teaching institutions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Serve as a resource to Ansys channel partners within a designated territory by assisting with the academic sales activities related to new and existing accounts, up to and including opportunity close.
Identify opportunities to deploy the full portfolio of Ansys tools in key research groups.
Maintain key relationships with priority research groups.
Define and maintain a list of priority universities for the adoption of Ansys in curriculum.
Manage (and directly perform when needed) a constant number of presentations showcasing the ANSYS Academic Program to faculty and students (demand generation events).
Manage and ensure that Ansys is included in curriculum on a regular basis.
Join and participate in activities of influential groups (e.g., ASME, IEE).
Manage student teams activities: ensure that key student teams have access to Ansys products and training, ensure that the student teams contacts are leveraged to find new adoption opportunities.
Create and maintain account plans for existing customers highlighting profile, share and value opportunities.
Lead coordination of sales effort with other Ansys teams.
Leverage conferences, trade shows, and conventions.
Schedule training and seminars to enhance new business opportunities within current and prospective customer base.
Remain knowledgeable and keep abreast of the company's new and existing products/services to facilitate sales efforts.
Alert client to new or improved products/services and relay client feedback to product development staff.
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience Bachelor's degree
Minimum of 3 years of sales experience
Basic knowledge of company's products/services and pricing practices
Excellent selling skills
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Professional appearance and presentation required
At least 50% travel to universities required
Other Information Engineering degree or equivalent training in engineering strongly preferred
Proven/documented sales ability
Heavy phone usage
Fluency in English is required, other language skills are a plus.
