Reporting into the Finance Director or as advised by management this role will be responsible to oversee and manage the financial aspects of projects within the organization.
The role involves overseeing end-to-end finance and operations, liaising with auditors, financial planning and analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, tax planning and filling, as well as looking to make improvements to procedures and controls Key Accountabilities: Accounts Operations Ensure the accounting records are properly maintained Verify supporting documents and register suppliers in line with company policy Ensure supplier invoices including intercompany transactions are accurate and as well recorded on time in line with company policies Monitor internal control points for proper signatures, approvals and compliance to company policies Screen for certain types of bills that require additional management approval before processing not covered by standard review guidelines but requested specifically by management Ensure location wise tax coding and compliance Prepare monthly schedule with reasoning for Unapplied / On-account, PDC, and Unidentified receipts and Cash on Hand Issue receipts against bank transfers and direct deposits daily and subsequently follow-up on unidentified transactions with respective team members Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for daily operations and project financing.
Implement effective cash flow forecasting and treasury management practices.
Reconciliation: Reconcile general ledger accounts to subsidiary ledgers and bank statements.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in a timely manner.
Ensure intercompany balances are regularly reconciled Month-end and Year-end Closing: Assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements, ensuring complete and robust accounting.
Perform financial analysis and review to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Budgeting and Cost Control.
Prepare project budgets in collaboration with project managers and stakeholders.
Monitor project expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement cost control measures.
Track project costs against budgets and analyze any deviations.
Provide guidance to project teams on effective financial resource allocation.
Prepare monthly schedules for each GL account with proper explanation Risk Management: Identify and assess financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Establish internal controls to safeguard company assets and financial data.
Tax and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
Work with external auditors and tax consultants to complete audits and tax filings.
Financial Reporting: Support in preparing accurate and timely financial reports for senior management and stakeholders.
Maintain a robust system for financial data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Ensure accurate distribution of accounting entries Financial Analysis: Assist in analysing key financial metrics, market trends, and competitor financial performance.
Provide insights and recommendations for strategic decision-making.
Audit Ensure that all financial statements, disclosures, and all analysis required by auditors, are timely and accurately provided Gather and organize all relevant financial documents, such as invoices, receipts, contracts, and bank statements Manage the full audit process to ensure that the audit report is issued within the timeline agreed with the auditor Qualifications and Experiences: Bachelor degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (a Master's degree in Finance or a related field is preferred).
Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, or ACCA is highly desirable.
Minimum of 8-10 years of proven experience as a Finance Manager, Finance Controller, or similar role, preferably in a project-based environment.
