ICFO is a research center located in the Mediterranean Technology Park in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, and currently hosts 400+ people, including researchers, PhD students and staff personnel. Today, in its area of specialization and category, the institute is consistently ranked among the highest-quality research institutions worldwide.
ICFO Finance Unit is responsible for establishing general procedures in this area, coordinating and supervising the tasks of the Accounting, Purchasing and Finance teams in order to guarantee a high level of service, assure compliance with current financial and fiscal regulations and the efficient management of institutional resources, as per the strategy of the institute and the guidelines established by the institute's manager.
We are currently looking for a Finance Head who will report directly to the ICFO Manager, leading the mission of the Finance Unit coordinating and supervising the Purchasing, Accounting and Travel teams and assuming responsibilities detailed below.
Initially, his/her main tasks will be:
Coordination of the different units teams with economic functions (Purchasing, Accounting and Travel) and the definition of their objectives.
Preparation of proposals and continuous revision of the general procedures of the unit with the aim of maximizing the quality and efficiency of its services.
Preparation and follow-up of the institute's budget.
Management and supervision of accounting including monthly and annual closing.
Management of taxes and fiscal requirements.
Coordination and follow-up of finance audits. Preparation of annual reports and yearly accounts. Direct liaise with financial auditors of public procurement: procedures and filing.
Review and process the center's taxes and fiscal requirements.
Coordination and follow-up of the center's accounting, tax and financial audits.
Maximize the efficiency of the center's financial ERP system (SAP Business One).
Preparation of follow-up reports, KPIs, analytics including the data requested by public institutions according to the financial statements.
Negotiation with bank agencies in order to maximize the treasury plan.
Additional responsibilities may be assigned by ICFO's Manager in accordance with appointee's experience. REQUIREMENTS The appointee must have:
Hold a University degree in a related field (Economics, Accounting or Finance).
Postgraduate University Studies in Finance or Public Administration as well as complementary training in a related field will be highly valued.
Minimum 5 year experience in a similar position in the public sector with a leadership role.
Experience in SAP Business One.
Previous experience in use of collaborative tools and of the MS Office environment such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint (Excel) will be highly valued.
Previous professional experience in multicultural environments.
Be fluent in English, Spanish and Catalan both written and spoken.

Leadership skills, orientation to results, flexibility.
High level of communication skills both written and spoken.
