By providing our customers 360-degree advice through our network of advisors, we optimise each individual's risk coverage through innovative prevention, assistance and insurance products.The RoleThe Engineering Manager, Cloud Services will lead and grow the Cloud Services team in the Platforms group at Wefox.As an Engineering Manager, you will be crucial to the success of the Wefox Insurance Platform and will play a key role in managing team delivery and personnel.Your key responsibilities will include:Managing the Cloud Services engineering team.Understanding, documenting, and managing the growth, performance, expectations, and progress of the engineers within your team.Managing personnel and hiring within the Cloud Services team.Having a data-driven approach to drive domain delivery, constantly using KPIs related to personnel, system performance, business metrics, and other available data.Managing and leading improvement across the broad array of Wefox's AWS-first production and staging environments, including extensive usage of EC2, S3, ALB, Gateway, ElasticSearch, Kafka, Kubernetes, Managed Blockchain, and other key services.Managing our Monitoring and Alerting systems and working with engineers to ensure these systems are being properly integrated with their code.Pushing boundaries and exploring new ways we can use AWS to handle our system needs.Using strong verbal and written communication skills in a positive, empathetic way.Leading by example and living progressive leadership values.Administrative and operational tasks like approving expenses, time off requests, and training and event budgets.What You Bring:3+ years of experience hiring and managing a team of Software Engineers or SREs in a platform or microservices organization/company.3+ years of professional experience managing and improving a large-scale AWS environment.Demonstrated ability to define, articulate, and drive the vision, strategy, clean architecture, design and implementation of complex, large scale technology systems.Demonstrated ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a wide variety of audiences.Must have a positive, can-do attitude with a proven ability to organise and move forward within a distributed team environment.Prior experience working with cross-functional teams using agile methodologies, and a strong belief that everything should have a use case.Prior experience working with RESTful APIs, SQL and no-SQL databases, API gateways, and microservices-based system architecture is required.Strong knowledge of English is required; proficiency in Spanish or German is a plus.Prior experience working in a regulated industry such as banking or insurance is a plus.What We Offer:Flexible working hours including remote or hybrid working.Private Health Insurance with Adeslas.Discounted fitness memberships through AndJoy.Up to 50% of your public transport costs reimbursed through Edenred.Language lessons (English, German or Spanish) through Learnlight.Stock Ownership Plan after 2 years in the company.Free access to a mental health and well-being platform for personalised care, such as 1:1 coaching and therapy sessions for life's ups and downs — whether at work, at home, or in your relationships.26 working days of vacation + 24th and 31st December.Seniority days: one day of extra holiday per employment year starting from the 2nd anniversary in the company (up to 30 days total holidays).A stack of the latest technologies and working gadgets.Training and Coaching opportunities.Free coffee, fruit, and snacks because we need fuel!At Wefox, we have not made too many rules, because we are a company that got where we did by breaking them, and what's more we're full of brilliant creatives who should be able to exercise their creative freedom!
