IRTA is currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Researcher with a PhD related to the use of reclaimed water and other alternative water sources for irrigation, to join the IRTA's research program on Efficient Use of Water in Agriculture. The selected candidate will lead and execute research projects and contracts dealing with the development of strategies combining irrigation, soil management and other agricultural practices addressed to optimize the use of water and fertilizers from non-conventional water sources, alleviating scenarios of water scarcity and drought, ensuring the economic and environmental sustainability of farms while minimizing risks on the food chain.Tasks and Responsibilities:Lead a research line on the use of non-conventional water sources for irrigation, with special focus on the development of strategies and guidelines for a safe and sustainable use of reclaimed water for agriculture.Active participation in the preparation of proposals for national and international public calls.Participate in the transfer of knowledge and technologies to the private sector.Participate in dissemination activities related to the research line.Creation of synergies with other research lines at IRTA.Required Qualifications and Experience:PhD related to Agronomy or similar.At least 2 years of postdoctoral research.Demonstrated scientific production in the use of non-conventional water sources for irrigation.Experience on applied research regarding the use of reclaimed water for irrigation.Knowledge of the regulatory framework for water reuse in irrigation.Capacities for communication, teamwork, project management and transfer of R+D outputs to the agricultural and water management sectors.Experience in writing project proposals.Dissemination skills: solid presentation/communication skills, scientific (peer-reviewed journals) and technical writing skills.Full driving license for Europe and travelling availability.Desirable Requirements:Research experience in the management of irrigation and fertigation from reclaimed water.Experience analysing the occurrence, distribution and fate of contaminants of emerging concern and of persistent organic pollutants.Experience in dissemination and transfer of knowledge to farmers and technicians.Skills in data management and analysis.Demonstrating an attractive publication record and participation in funded projects.Network of collaborators at a national and/or international level.Proven experience in technical and scientific initiatives, at an international level, and eventually national level.A proactive profile, solutions-focused approach to work, with ability to adapt to changing requirements.Strong organizational capability and ability to learn and successfully work within multidisciplinary teams.Teamwork skills and ability to establish and build relationships that will allow pursuing the objectives of the R&D activities.Receptive to challenges, ability to align the professional objectives and institutional priorities and strategy.Languages:Proficiency in English.Catalan and Spanish are valued.
