Job Description: Director, Extraction (Barcelona)
We are looking for a Director of Extraction who will lead regional teams of specialists extracting facts or events from Dow Jones' Factiva content to support multiple internal and external use cases through the management of Dow Jones Factiva's extraction systems. You will ensure optimal use of the categorization and extraction NLP tools by the respective teams. This will include assessing and driving improvements in the quality and consistency of existing projects and workflows, as well as providing necessary training and project strategies.
As the Director, you will establish key performance metrics and manage and track the team's progress against performance targets, prioritizing work and balancing resources. You will report to the VP, Shared Solutions.
You Will:Directly supervise a team of specialists responsible for ensuring content is processed, extracted and indexed to a consistently high standard.Review and assess existing Categorization and Extraction projects and strategies to ensure high-quality benchmarks.Develop and implement new projects.Identify, explore and test new solutions for current and future use cases in the field of text analysis, categorization, data mining and Natural Language Processing.Design and deliver customized training sessions to Autocoding teams to ensure proficiency.Develop materials and content to document workflows and best practices.Test software releases as tools are improved.Work closely with Business, Technology and Data Strategy partners to improve workflows, streamline data, and effectively manage resources.Propose new ways to leverage Dow Jones metadata and taxonomy assets.Develop team members and maximize career opportunities for key personnel.Monitor and evaluate your team's performance.You Have:Degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics.2+ years of work experience in the field of semantic analysis, data mining or Natural Language Processing (NLP).Experience with analytical scripting languages.Strong experience developing and implementing NLP algorithms in a commercial setting.Experience in statistical machine learning and statistical methodologies.Expert in NLP methodologies: sentiment analysis, entity extraction, and classification systems.Previous experience leading projects, working to tight deadlines and high-quality standards.Experience effectively communicating with a technical team, clients and senior stakeholders.Preferred:Knowledge of Big Data concepts, AWS cloud computing and data compilation.Understanding of Factiva product and services, including Dow Jones Intelligent Identifiers.Ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, multi-project environment.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Dow Jones, Making Careers Newsworthy
