This is a rotational Chief Officer position on a 60 meter explorer yacht with a worldwide itinerary. We are looking for candidates with very strong experience in both commercial shipping and yachting.
Responsibilities: General deck crew management (team of 3 inclusive of bosun)Passage planningCommunication with agentsMonitoring planned maintenanceAssisting the captain in other operational aspectsWe will be operating in many challenging sailing areas, and a very strong understanding of COLREGs is a must. Safety is of paramount importance on board this vessel, and a strong understanding of passenger ship safety standards would be an advantage. The vessel is equipped with pods and a DP system, and experience using both is a major plus. Strong maneuvering experience is essential, and you must have the ability to demonstrate this from previous vessels.
We carry out light water sports and fishing activities. The vessel will enter polar regions next year; experience in this region is advantageous but not mandatory at this stage. An advanced polar certificate would also be an advantage.
The ship is heavily IT-based, so strong IT skills are required. The right candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and have an understanding of general AV and IT.
The bridge is continuously manned at sea 24 hours a day by officers including the captain. Strong watchkeeping and diligence are required at all times.
We seek someone who is calm and relaxed yet well-spoken and professionally presented. The vessel has a relaxed environment underpinned by strong procedures, and as previously stated, the safety of all personnel and guests on board is of utmost importance.
This position is starting in November to relieve the current Chief Officer. This will be a shared cabin arrangement on board.
