Business Area: Operations - Procurement We make sure Amazon gets value for money every time it buys non-inventory goods and services for its Fulfillment Centers (FCs) and corporate business. It's a fast-paced operation that supports growth and change, works with every department, and is driven by Key Performance Indicators - and there's plenty of healthy competition. We work individually and as part of teams, meeting regularly to cement our relationships and approach.
The Site Procurement Operations Center (SPOC), reporting into the Procurement Function, ensures that Amazon gets value for money for non-inventory goods to provide the Fulfillment Centers with the necessary shipping supplies they need to operate smoothly. The team has two divisions: North America (NA) and Europe (EU). As a supply chain specialist, you will provide functional support to a group of Fulfillment Centers (FCs) for all aspects of procurement. The number of FCs within a group will depend on FC size and other relevant parameters. This includes securing the constant flow of packaging goods and services, supplied at the best overall value to the business on a day-to-day basis, Blanket Purchase Order management, Key Performance Indicators (KPI) bridging ownership, Accounts Payable invoice hold resolution, site launch support, and escalation management.
SPOC currently provides these services for ~1200 sites across 14 countries.
Key Job Responsibilities Main Responsibilities In partnership with SPOC Leadership, provide support for various types of fulfillment centers, including: forecasting of non-inventory products, inventory management, non-inventory flow and space models, cycle counts, procurement transaction and expediting support. Partnership with Suppliers and Stakeholders:
Work in partnership both internally and with suppliers to develop innovative solutions to provide indirect supply chain support to the Operations network. Liaise with suppliers to secure prompt deliveries for the full range of shipping supplies items and ensure delivery schedules meet the needs of on-site teams. Develop relationships with primary internal customers (on-site management teams), external suppliers, and other Amazon Teams (Operations, Non-Inventory Teams, and Corporate) to understand on-site conditions and overall business needs on a daily basis. Daily Process Tasks Coordinate the demand identification, procurement, and inventory management of all non-merchandise items required for building operation. This includes corrugate, packing materials, and other services as required by the business. Execute purchase order creation and management based on the planned forecast and internal requests. Partner with Accounts Payable, Suppliers, and various internal teams to ensure timely resolution of vendor payment issues and Invoices on Hold (IOH) requests. Work in full compliance with the company Spending and Transaction Policy. Deliver Procurement metrics in line with set targets. This includes achieving cost savings, no FC stock-out issues, and achieving individual project objectives. Create root cause analysis, reporting, and business narratives to communicate effectively with customers, stakeholders, and management. Triage, root cause, and resolve customer and stakeholder escalations surrounding delivery schedules, trailer offloading, quality and logistical issues, and service concerns. Other Responsibilities Develop deep knowledge of non-inventory items and align with like buildings to ensure best practices are being shared and implemented. Support change initiatives and continuous improvement projects aimed at improving the efficiency of non-inventory processes. Provide coverage, support, and training to other team members as required. Availability to work during peak weekends (EU). Preferred Qualifications Completed Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, IT, or related field. Strong experience in the following Procurement domains: Materials Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Operations, and/or Shipping Supplies. Experience in supplier/vendor relationship management. Understanding of ERP and/or MRP systems (such as Oracle, SAP, Coupa, etc). 1+ year of inventory planning/forecasting experience. Experience as a Non-Inventory Receiver.
