Description
The Technical Vendor Manager is responsible for managing the critical path schedule of Consultants, General Contractors (GC) and supply chain, with the objective of finding, securing and gaining increased value from our vendors in D&C projects. The individual will build and maintain relationships with the vendors and support in developing their capabilities to efficiently deliver high-quality projects safely, on time and within the defined budget, looking for the establishment of partnerships and long-term relations.
Successful candidates will have a strong level of ownership, bias for action and be highly motivated individuals who have Project/Contracts Management experience within the construction industry.
The role will understand the details of Amazon buildings, and will deep dive on key construction partners by working in close collaboration with consultants, General Contractors and internal stakeholders such as Procurement, Pre-construction and Construction.
You should be a passionate self-starter, decisive and able to move with speed to implement ideas and have the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You should be highly analytical to interlink vendor metrics and compare those against defined targeted KPIs. You should have proven experience in the construction industry and a track record of delivering results in fast-paced and dynamic business environments while managing the sometimes conflicting needs of different groups of stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the GC & Consultant Vendor Strategy together with Procurement Team;
- Have technical capacity to develop KPIs to determine vendors performance;
- Metric analysis, leveraging vendor data to gain comprehensive insights, and evaluating key metrics and KPIs against organizational targets for informed decision-making;
- Develop method to collect and sync feedback on Developer, GCs, Consultants and supply chain vendors by monitoring performance throughout the project lifecycle;
- Assist Pre-construction Manager and Procurement during tendering process;
- Manage external vendors and support internal teams to ensure the delivery of CAPEX projects safely, on time and on cost;
- Manage vendors claims and escalations, deep dive on technical details and lead problem-resolution covering Amazon interest, driving process improvements and lessons learnt, keeping productive relation between the organization and the vendors;
- Support in leading critical path schedule items and escalate to leadership on potential risks and delays;
- Be a business partner with the Procurement, Pre-Construction and Construction teams, drive execution of commercial and technical deliverables;
- Work very closely with Pre-construction / Construction / Project Delivery Teams and support on General Contractor & Consultancy sourcing, ensuring there is enough country capacity;
- Seek out ways and provide inputs to automate and simplify processes in order to improve productivity.
Basic Qualifications
- University degree in civil engineering or architecture;
- Proven project management in construction and/or contracts management;
- Strong analytical skills with aptitude for figures and data-driven argumentation;
- Proficient in utilizing Excel and software tools to deliver vendor metrics and conduct data-driven analysis;
- Written and verbal communication skills (in English);
- Flexibility to travel up to 25% across projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cross functional experience, especially procurement, planning, cost control, contracts or project management;
- Excellent knowledge of Excel, macros, database work, QuickSight or representation software;
- Experiences in contract management (FIDIC, NEC, JTC, etc), draft of contracts or legal letters is a plus;
- Past experiences in technical/management roles on construction sites will be considered a plus;
- German, French, Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications.
