Our client, a leading global insurance company, seeks to hire an experienced Big Data Information Architect for its major European tech hub in Barcelona.
This full-time position will enhance the company's data and information management capabilities in big data and cloud data solutions. As a member of the Data Governance and Standardization department, the challenge is to enable sustainable, governed and re-usable data assets considering ingestion, standardization, data governance, metadata management, search and machine learning.
Main Responsibilities: Set the standards:
• Define data management standards for data lakes, data clouds, machine learning, semantic web technologies, unstructured data, etc.
• Provide guidelines for enhanced metadata management, sourcing, transformations and modelling of data assets in a big data environment.
• Contribute to process improvements and further industrialize data management.
• Collaborate with internal and external experts in big data, data clouds and innovative data management services.
• Communicate and share best practices within the team. Support and advise key initiatives:
• Enable process and methodology adoption in key initiatives.
• Work closely with data standardization team and align standards with the company's enterprise data model.
• Guide data analysis and design efforts in projects and review solution design documents.
• Harvest best practices from ongoing and completed projects and embed them in our methodology and artefacts.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Solution and Enterprise Architects and contribute to the company's data strategy.
• Work with business intelligence architects to position big data in context to traditional DWH and Data Marts.
• Provide trainings to enable a broader community to implement data management standards. Review and monitor adoption:
• Govern metadata usage and enhancement.
• Govern data curation and exposure following the company's enterprise data model.
• Govern reference data and master data sourcing for data lakes and cloud data solutions.
• Govern data lineage activities for data lake and data in the cloud and ensure maintenance of the company's metadata hub. Skills and Experience • Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Business Informatics or related.
• Highly proficient in English (oral and written).
Experience • Min 2 years in big data solutions and technologies.
• Min 5 years in data architecture, data design and data governance.
• Data management practices and analytics capabilities (data sourcing, ingestion, storing, syndication, aggregation, data quality, advanced analytics).
• Delivery projects covering the full cycle, Agile/Scrum a plus.
• Experience with metadata and information governance concepts and tools.
• Experience with data design tools e.g. IBM Data Architect, Erwin, PowerDesigner.
• Preferably experience in insurance or other financial services.
