Global Alumni Relations provides engagement services, resources, and benefits to the IE alumni network that consists of more than 80,000 alumni worldwide and liaises across the IE stakeholder map to ensure the community stays connected to each other and IE throughout their lifetime. The team consists of 14 staff members based in Madrid and shared resources in Europe, Middle East, U.S. and APAC supporting alumni engagement and career development.
The Class Reunions Associate Director will be responsible for managing and coordinating class reunions to strengthen alumni engagement and create IE University's Class Reunion advancement strategy. This role revolves around building and maintaining relationships with alumni, organizing memorable events, and fostering alumni participation year after year in our annual Alumni tradition: the Global Alumni Weekend.
This role will be critical for building upon the existing class reunion model and crafting an even more personalized and curated approach, aligning with internal strategic objectives. This individual will nurture multiple alumni relationships across the globe and collaborate closely with internal teams to implement curated reunion activities that will provide value-add for the attendees. His/her main goal will be to increase overall engagement and communication, grow the participation of reunions yearly, and foster stronger ties between alumni and IE.

Alumni Engagement Growth & Mobilization: Build and maintain strong relationships with key alumni, especially those celebrating reunion milestones (i.e., 5th, 10th, 25th year reunions, etc.), serving as a primary contact (liaison) between alumni and IE, keeping them informed of reunion plans and opportunities to reconnect. Encourage alumni participation in reunions through targeted outreach, marketing and communications campaigns, and personal invitations. Increase the number of Class Reunions held each year by implementing strategic outreach and engagement plans. Volunteer Recruitment and Coordination: Identify and involve enthusiastic alumni volunteers or class leaders to help organize and inspire their classmates to attend reunions. Provide support and training to volunteers, helping them to mobilize their classmates for reunion participation. Recognize and celebrate the efforts of reunion volunteers, fostering ongoing engagement. Event Coordination and Enhancement of the Attendee Experience: Coordinate all Class Reunion activities at Global Alumni Weekend (GAW) or through ad hoc Reunions, in collaboration with colleagues from the GAW event management and content curation teams. Partner with the events management team to provide personalized touches that make reunions meaningful for attendees, such as class-specific programming, faculty meet-and-greets, campus tours, and personalized memorabilia. Design reunions to foster a sense of nostalgia, pride, and renewed connection to IE. Craft personalized, curated experiences for different alumni classes, considering their unique interests and needs. Collaboration Across Internal Stakeholders: Work closely with other internal stakeholders such as Program Management, IE Foundation, GAR Communications, and GAR Events team to ensure a cohesive reunion strategy. Partner with content curation team to bring faculty members, university updates, and other institutional representatives into reunion activities. Partner with IE Foundation to identify and cultivate opportunities for uniting philanthropic efforts with reunions and/or members with interest. Class Reunion Communications: Collaborate closely with GAR Communications and GAW events team to create and distribute reunion communications with a multi-channel approach – social media, emails, IE Connects – for keeping alumni informed and excited about upcoming reunions, including save-the-dates, invitations, event schedules, and post-event follow-ups. Personalized and direct communication (through channels like email and mobile/WhatsApp) with class reunion leaders, keeping them "in the loop", and tracking necessary follow-up. Develop content that highlights past reunion successes and the importance of staying connected with the institution. Data Management and Reporting: Maintain up-to-date alumni contact information and manage lists of reunion attendees. Track participation metrics and analyze reunion attendance, alumni engagement, and philanthropic outcomes. Use alumni feedback to improve future reunion planning and engagement strategies. Qualifications: To thrive in this role, you should have:
A master's degree in a related field (e.g., Communications, Marketing, or Event Management) preferred. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English. Prior experience in alumni relations, event planning, or customer relations, preferably within higher education or nonprofit organizations. Highly valued: knowledge of the alumni landscape and institutional advancement. Ability to craft effective communication and marketing strategies to increase alumni participation. Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders, especially the alumni community with high professional expectations. Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Highly organized and able to set expectations effectively, follow up with individuals and successfully execute tasks and projects. Efficient and effective resource management, accustomed to budget management. Enthusiasm, a love of learning, team spirit, and strong willingness to have an impact. Creative "outside the box" thinker with problem-solving skills to deliver personalized reunion experiences that align with alumni needs.
