As an Accountant for Cambridge University Press & Assessment in Madrid, you will be responsible for inventory operations and perform a variety of general accounting activities that will include the preparation of journal entries, maintenance of balance sheet schedules, ledgers, and account reconciliations.
About the role You will work to prepare journal entries and complete general ledger operations with a deep focus on product cost analysis. Taking ownership over the accounting process for inventory costs and COGS (cost of goods sold) reporting, you will partner with Supply chain and Operations on reviewing stock purchase orders and goods delivery for accuracy. You will complete monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements, as well as drawing up monthly financial reports. As well as reconciling and maintaining inventory balance sheet accounts, you will assist with the year-end closing and the preparation and coordination of the external audit process, including assisting in preparing budgets and forecasts.
About you You will ideally have an accounting degree or equivalent, and previous experience in general accounting. You will have knowledge of accounting principles and practices, and finance principles and taxation. A B2 level of the English language is required, along with strong Excel skills.
Any experience in an accounting software such as SAP or BPC is a great advantage.
