Position Description
Scientists within Product Development are responsible for:
Planning studies for themselves and small teams; Writing protocols, reviewing and approving documents within design control procedures; executing the studies within the laboratory including supervision of team members; evaluating and documenting studies; analyzing and presenting results in written reports.The day-to-day execution of planned studies to support the development of new diagnostic products.Adaptable across different workflows, for example qPCR, Digital PCR.Troubleshooting and technical interpretation of data.Ensuring experiments are completed to the required quality and regulatory standards.Coordinating studies with other team members within product development (and across functions if required) to effectively and efficiently deliver projects.Working as part of the product development team to ensure a safe and efficient laboratory environment.In partnership with the senior scientists, coaching and mentoring of junior staff to ensure development of a learning environment.Flexible approach to both laboratory and written based activities. Position Requirements
- University degree (desirable PhD) in the area of Biological Sciences with additional experience working in a laboratory environment, or equivalent years working in a laboratory environment.
- Experience of qPCR assays is highly desirable.
- Full professional competence in English.
- Knowledge of Design Control and Design History Files (DHFs) is highly desirable.
- Strong troubleshooting, data analysis and interpretation skills.
- Experience supervising and leading teams.
- Proven organisational skills, self-motivated and attention to detail.
- Essential relevant laboratory experience will include: processing biological samples; DNA extraction using manual extraction kits and/or automated instruments; Real-Time PCR manual setup and/or using automated instruments.
- Proficient in MS Office packages (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint).
