For our pharmaceutical sector, we are currently recruiting a Medical Affairs Manager (M/F) - Immunology & Neuroscience on a permanent contract. The role is based in our Johannesburg office.
Job Purpose: To develop and conduct medical activities with scientific premise and provide cross-departmental strategic guidance in line with company strategies and goals, J&J Credo and applicable J&J procedures including but not limited to those related to Health Care Compliance, Clinical Research and Pharmacovigilance, GCPs, Regulatory Regulations and local Legislation. Plays an active role in defining and managing the budgets to achieve local company financial objectives. People management and development - provides leadership to support effective functioning of MSLs. Coordinates as necessary to determine MSL visits qualitatively and quantitatively. To act as a local representative to external stakeholders such as healthcare professionals, funders, societies, and patient organizations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities: Middle Management cross-functional collaboration.

Collects and consolidates the necessary medical data and provides input on scientific data to top ethical standards.
Ensures medical aspects of company strategies and practices are compliant with HCBI, national and global ethical procedures.
Plays an active role in defining and managing the budgets to achieve local company financial objectives.
To act as a local representative to external stakeholders such as healthcare professionals, funders, societies, and patient organizations.
Medical Education and Training.
Plans and executes training for field force to equip them with sufficient medical knowledge and to ensure continuity of training programs.
People Management and Development.
To recruit and retain the best available talent for the local company.
To ensure all line-reports have appropriate documented skills and training to undertake their roles.
Coordinates as necessary to determine MSL visits qualitatively and quantitatively in line with current key performance indicators.
Data Generation and Dissemination Activities.
Support clinical trial teams in clinical trials, planned / concluded / being conducted.
Provides the necessary scientific support for pipeline products to be included in the portfolio of responsibilities.
Plays an active role in product launch preparations, enhances communication with target physician groups and coordinates robustly with opinion leaders/associations/health authorities for medical positioning of products and determining appropriate strategies.
Qualifications: The qualifying requirements:
Science degree: MBChB/MBBCh, PhD, Masters.
Prefer at least 2 years working experience in pharmaceutical industry or research company and with competency in a project management capacity.
Medical Affairs experience.
Deep scientific knowledge on the therapeutic area.
