The Position
As a Database DevOps Infrastructure Engineer at Roche, you will be at the forefront of optimizing the reliability, availability, scalability, and performance of our expansive IT infrastructure, spanning on-premises and public cloud environments. Your role involves applying software engineering principles across the entire lifecycle, from inception to decommissioning. You will dive into the heart of our database platforms, leveraging your specialized knowledge to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability. The Opportunity:Engages in and improves the whole lifecycle of database platforms and services by applying software engineering principles to build and manage large scale IT infrastructure products and services (both on-premises or in public cloud) optimizing database services reliability, availability, capacity, and performance and eliminating work through automation and software development.Implements and maintains CI/CD pipelines, enabling developers to easily build, test, and deploy their applications.Ensure IT infrastructure services reach and maintain the agreed service level indicators (SLIs), objectives (SLOs), and agreements (SLAs) in compliance with QA requirements.Contribute to the maintenance of database services once they are live by monitoring and resolving incidents/problems (including major ones) with platform operations, suggesting priorities and collaborating in the resolution when required.Implements cost, compliance, and security best practices, ensuring that database platforms and services meet the corresponding requirements and ensuring implemented solutions and components comply with Quality/Regulatory standards, as applicable.Collaborate with developers, Managed Services suppliers, other teams, and vendors to continuously improve application development velocity, optimize services reliability, availability, and performance, and to ensure that new features and changes are rolled out with reliability in mind.Who You Are:3-5 years of experience with a minimum Bachelor's; Master's preferred.Expertise in both on-premise and in public cloud databases with a preference for Open Source solutions (i.e., PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS RDS, Aurora), NoSQL (i.e., MongoDB, GraphDB, DocumentDB, Azure CosmosDB) as well as Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle experience.Well-proven scripting and automation skills with strong knowledge in delivering and managing infrastructure as code.Experience working with database infrastructure systems internals, their availability, administration, configuration, and integration.Familiarity with Software Engineering and DevOps principles and automated testing and CI/CD tools.Preferred:Knowledge of agile methodologies and principles.Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and/or GitOps plus required tooling (AWX, Rundeck, Ansible, Jenkins (gitlab), Puppet, Chef, Microsoft DSC or equivalent) as well as Coding and scripting: Python, Perl, Ruby, JS, Go, SQL, GraphQL.Who we are
