The Engineering Services division, with a focus on the treatment of radioactive waste and the dismantling of nuclear power plants in Spain, offers internships, practical semesters, bachelor's and master's theses to students. In addition, the Engineering Services area supports the entire life cycle of a nuclear facility. This includes the planning, implementation and commissioning of new plants, the development of new reactor concepts, as well as the support of projects in operating power plants. The nuclear facilities, particularly the Westinghouse AP1000 reactor, contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases in the West. The Engineering Services division is responsible for carrying out the dismantling activities of the nuclear facilities up to the "greenfield site". Typical work includes the planning and delivery of nuclear waste processing plants and components such as evaporators, dryers, cementing and grouting systems and high-pressure presses. In addition, Westinghouse develops dissection technologies for the segmentation of contaminated and activated parts of the plant. Interns support system and component engineers to redesign nuclear waste treatment facilities and dismantling concepts as well as the necessary disassembly and handling tools and to improve existing designs.
