WHAT YOU WILL BE DOINGCapital Finance is the team of Santander Corporate and Investment Banking (SCIB) executing both equity and alternative debt investments in energy and infrastructure assets globally. With a clear focus on innovation, Capital Finance designs tailor-made solutions to meet clients' requirements, optimizing their capital structures. Furthermore, Capital Finance team leads the execution of Santander Green Investment, a platform investing in renewable energy projects under development and construction.
Working as Vice President presents an opportunity to assist in the identification, evaluation, execution, and management of investment opportunities in energy assets. The role is ideally suited to a self-motivated individual seeking a dynamic work environment. The Vice President will lead the end-to-end execution of a transaction, which includes conducting the financial due diligence and analysis, preparing the materials for Investment and Risk Committees, and negotiating relevant documentation, having direct client exposure and coordinating with the client and different areas involved in the projects such as the risk, legal, markets, and distribution teams. In addition, the Vice President will be assisting in developing new business activities.
RESPONSIBILITIESLead industry and market research to support the development of investment strategies or identify transaction opportunities.Support the implementation of the business development and transaction strategy.Support the investment thesis and identification of value creation strategies and assist in developing ideas for a transaction/deal structure.Network and develop new investment ideas to grow the business.Lead the team in all stages of a transaction's life cycle, collaborating with internal functional areas as well as interfacing with counterparties and external advisors.Lead the due diligence process for a transaction that supports the validation of the business case supporting an acquisition and/or financing and identify key transaction issues, including modelling and valuation analysis, working with internal functional teams such as tax, legal, finance, corporate development, markets, etc.Lead negotiation, documentation, and structuring of the transaction (loan agreements, sale and purchase agreements, shareholders agreements, joint venture agreements, etc.).Lead the preparation and presentation of investment materials to Investment and Risk Committees and other documents such as bid letters in a clear, concise, and articulate manner.Monitor ongoing financial and operational performance of investments.Constantly and strategically thinking of ways to better portfolio investments.Manage, coach, and develop talent by leading, overseeing and coaching investment professionals, providing constructive and timely feedback to ensure quality team outcomes.Contribute to a flexible, dynamic, and team-oriented working culture that fosters personal development and a positive attitude.Conduct special projects as required.PROFILEBachelor's degree required, preferably in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or Engineering.5 - 8 years of experience with an investment background and relevant market knowledge encompassing familiarity with M&A and Structured Finance in energy assets (financial and technical grounding and experience of working on renewable energy is highly recommended).Superior financial modelling and due diligence capabilities.Ability to analyze deal and funding structures, debt-sizing, valuations, returns, and sensitivities analysis and to assess project timelines, yield, opex, capex, and other technical assumptions.Ability to identify and assess transaction risks to understand and solve contractual, commercial, and technical issues.Ability to work with deal team members that are located across geographies.Proficient with Excel and Powerpoint.Fluent in English. Other languages, especially Spanish or Italian, would be advantageous.
