Reporting to the Chief Geologist/Exploration Manager/VP Exploration, the Senior Geologist is responsible for the management of the Corporation's exploration program. This technical role requires wide experience in the exploration for and development of economic mineral resources, preferably in gold. A sound technical background with respect to the implementation of geochemical, geological, and geophysical surveys and the interpretation of field data is required, along with extensive field experience in a variety of geological settings.
Good compilation skills and technical writing skills are definite assets, as is the ability to manage a large technical team. The Senior Geologist will oversee the generation of exploration targets, the implementation of the exploration program to test such targets, and the development of geological models resulting in the development of mineral resource estimates. This role includes assuring adherence to all statutory requirements and Company Safety, Health, and Environmental standards and procedures.
The Senior Geologist is responsible for the definition and delineation of the Company's mineral resources and the management of the Company's exploration program in regard to identifying and exploring for new and additional deposits. A Professional Geoscientist designation is required, as is recognition as a Qualified Person under NI 43-101 or JORC. The position can be located in Toronto, Ontario but will require significant presence on the project locations.
Responsibilities:Responsible for identifying and designing programs to explore for, discover, define and delineate the growth of the Company's mineral resource base.Ensure that the geological, geophysical, and geochemical field surveys are properly planned, executed, documented, and/or interpreted.Implement and oversee best practice techniques in the collection, documentation, and interpretation of geological, geochemical, and geophysical data.Manage and collect required exploration data to achieve the Company goals, including core logging and cutting facilities.Compile, prepare, and present investor and technical presentations.Maintain good communications within the group assigned to the project as well as with other departments of the Company.
