Yes? We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to befriend clients and children, who have experienced domestic abuse and are living in our refuges across Northamptonshire. Working alongside our Children's Domestic Abuse Specialists, your volunteer role will help to ensure children in refuge are able to thrive and provide additional support to both clients and staff.
You will need to be available consistently for 2 hours per week between 9am and 3pm Monday to Friday. Being available during the school holidays is a bonus!
Key Tasks: Supporting parents to gain access to local children services and facilities.Supporting parents and children to develop wider social links in the Northamptonshire area.Supporting staff to deliver domestic abuse groups for children and parents.Liaising closely with the Children Domestic Abuse Specialists to provide handovers where necessary.Helping to organise children's group activities or one-to-one sessions to enable parents the time to access support.What we are looking for Experience working with children or in a childcare setting.Be enthusiastic about helping a local charity to support families affected by domestic abuse.Be trustworthy and reliable.Be committed to volunteering for at least 6 months.Be calm and creative when engaging with children and young people.Have excellent communication and team working skills.If you can commit to regular hours (such as 2-3 hours per week) we would be delighted to discuss ongoing projects that might interest you. As it takes an amount of time and resources to welcome new volunteers on board, we would appreciate it if you pledged to support us initially for a minimum of 6 months.

Please note that if successful, you must be available for our two-day induction process commencing in January.
