Job Overview We are seeking a VMware SMARTS/Watch4Net Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a 3-6 month resident position to assist in the upgrade and transition of VMware SMARTS from previous versions. The client is facing a critical situation where official support for Watch4Net is no longer available due to VMware's split and the transition of products to TCSA, which does not include Watch4Net moving forward. The SME will be responsible for providing expertise, guidance, and hands-on assistance in upgrading the current VMware SMARTS environment to the latest version. Key Responsibilities Upgrade VMware SMARTS : Lead the process of upgrading VMware SMARTS from previous versions to the latest available version, ensuring a seamless transition. Watch4Net Expertise : Provide in-depth knowledge and troubleshooting support related to Watch4Net, particularly in the absence of official support. Technical Analysis & Assessment : Analyze the current VMware SMARTS environment and assess upgrade paths, compatibility issues, and risks associated with the migration. Resident Support : Act as a resident expert for the client throughout the 3-6 month engagement, ensuring smooth execution of the migration and upgrade process. Post-Upgrade Support : Offer post-upgrade technical support and guidance to ensure the clients environment remains stable and optimized. Documentation & Knowledge Transfer : Create detailed documentation for the upgrade process and provide training or knowledge transfer to the client's internal teams. Collaborate with Stakeholders : Work closely with IT teams, management, and other stakeholders to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure alignment with business objectives. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience with VMware SMARTS : Extensive experience with VMware SMARTS, including previous versions and upgrades. Watch4Net Expertise : Strong understanding and hands-on experience with Watch4Net, including its integration with VMware SMARTS and network monitoring solutions. Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting : Proven track record in diagnosing and resolving issues related to VMware SMARTS and Watch4Net. Migration & Upgrade Experience : Experience with migration and upgrade projects, specifically related to VMware products and network management tools. Communication Skills : Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Documentation & Reporting : Strong skills in creating detailed documentation, upgrade plans, and reports for ongoing projects. Preferred Qualifications Experience with VMware product transitions, particularly in relation to TCSA ( Telco Cloud Service Assurance ).
