Overview: Mission: This Vice Dean will lead the Graduate programs of the School of Science and Technology, including the QS globally ranked #7 Master's professional programs in Data Science with Business Analytics and the parallel professional Master's in computer science. These are incredibly successful and important programs for IE and have tremendous potential for future growth. Along with the Dean of the school and other Vice-Deans, they comprise the senior leadership team of the school. As such, they directly have P&L responsibility for the degree programs and non-degree initiatives that fall within their areas of responsibility. In addition to their "vertical" roles leading their assigned portfolio of programs, Vice-Deans also lead horizontal activities that span all activities of the school, for example, Corporate Business Development, Academic Business Development, Faculty & Student Experience, and Sci-Tech Community Building. Vice-Deans contribute broadly to the growth and development of IE as an institution.
Responsibilities: Lead academic and commercial activities that contribute to the growth and quality of assigned Master's programs. Manage Academic Directors of programs, and work closely with the school academic operations teams to identify and capture opportunities to improve academic quality and ensure continued innovation.Lead the identification, design, proposal, staffing, and launch of new Master's programs. Coordinate and lead combined academic, commercial, and operational activities across IE's departments (Marketing, Admissions, International Development, Communications, Planning, Ordination, and Faculty) related to the commercialization and launch of new programs.Lead horizontal activities that contribute across the school and its diverse programs.Lead horizontal activities that make positive contributions broadly across the entire IE community.Represent the school externally in the press, in global events, and serve as the highest-level spokesperson for the school in external-facing activities along with the Dean of the school.Qualifications: Academic training in one or more of the core academic areas of the school.A Master's degree and/or credible reputation in a Sci-tech relevant field; PhD highly desirable.Fluent in English. Spanish as a second language or native is desirable.Ability to tap a professional network within Spain and Europe for advice, adjunct faculty recruitment, and staff recruitment.Excellent management skills including project management, proposal writing, team management, and interpersonal skills, and business modeling/planning.Ability to work effectively in a matrix organization in which results depend heavily on dotted-line relationships (leadership without formal authority).A flair for marketing, packaging, and commercial messaging.Ability to serve as a compelling voice for one or more core areas of the school with external stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to teach/train.
