We have a brand new role to help shape and grow our business which is going from strength to strength. Your role in our Climate Resilience team is to support in the development and deployment of state-of-the-art risk assessment methods and tools. In this role, you will be working closely with customer-facing business units as well as internal technical functions within Zurich Insurance (e.g., Group Accumulation Management, Group Re, Commercial Insurance Underwriting) towards sourcing and developing climate data and tools for our customers.
Your core responsibility in this role is to source, analyze, and visualize data sets (hazard, exposures, controls) to support in the assessment of natural hazards and climate change risks.
What you will do
As a Climate Data Specialist, your main responsibilities will involve:
Technical Developments: Support the development and continuous update of climate and natural hazards data. Monitor global sustainability regulations and frameworks to identify needs in terms of climate data and develop these. Support in the development of data processing and visualization tools.
Customer Projects: Source and analyze data from internal and open-source databases. Transform natural hazard and climate change exposure data into key messages and insights/conclusions to help customers build climate change resilience.
Communication: Creation, maintenance, and internal sharing of natural hazard and climate change training and knowledge content. Facilitate climate data knowledge sharing across the CCRS community as well as other internal stakeholders and customers.
What you bring
As Climate Data Specialist, your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
Master's degree in natural/environmental/atmospheric sciences.
Deep understanding of Climate Change and Natural Hazards science, models, and their practical implementation.
Experience in spatial data management, climate data, spatial analysis, and visualization, big datasets, transforming data into insights for decision-making.
The ability to clearly communicate complicated concepts in a concise and compelling manner to all levels of management and stakeholders of various levels of technical proficiency.
High level of proficiency in data analytics and tools for visualization of spatial data and software, e.g., Power BI, ArcGIS, and programming languages (R, Python, etc.).
Fluent in written and spoken English at a technical level with strong customer service orientation. Any other language is an asset.
